How Priyanka Chopra Jonas delivered a masterclass in monochrome brilliance

Priyanka Chopra – in her own words, “You’re awesome in your own way, slay the day!”, goes on to exemplify what a reckoning fashion force she is. Red carpets, front-row fashion shows and street style are her thriving vibes. Immaculate always, Pee Cee always hits the brief with signature allure and sass. She took this sartorial sentiment to the front row of Maison Valentino’s black tie AW23 show by Pierpaolo Piccioli at the recently concluded Paris Fashion Week. She followed it up with an appearance at the South Asian Excellence at the Oscars. While the former saw her reign in the much-loved Barbiecore moment, the latter had her astounding in a Falguni and Shane Peacock feathered creation. Further, she upped the stakes with a sleek beauty game. While most celebrity looks are an obvious interpretation of their stylists, Priyanka’s looks accentuate her astute understanding of vogues, but a flair to experiment amply and engaging consciously.

Retaining a strong sense of self while redefining elegance, keeping it sophisticated, and sartorial and breaking conventions is just how she rolls. Rarely a dull moment in her life, Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ heady fashion arsenal is chic, edgy, quirky, sophisticated and above all, relatable – all at once. Then she goes on to wade through those tricky waters of hues, fabrics, cuts and silhouettes with an enviable charm. Here is a closer look at how she pocketed these elevated luxe styles with an affable charm in tow.

Unapologetically pink

Dipping her toes into the elevated monochromatic PP pink aka Barbiecore wave, Priyanka flaunted a kaftan dress with a plunging V neckline with minimal gold hoops, a pair of pantaboots and a bucket bag. A glam of bold dark berry-toned lips and soft wavy hair accompanied. (If you want to know more about the Barbiecore trend, read it here.)

Her glam squad featured ace stylist Law Roach, hairstylist Thibaud Salducci and makeup artist Morgane Martini.

Feathered fabulosity

Immaculate to a whole new level of glam, Priyanka opted for a white and silver Falguni and Shane Peacock creation at the pre-Oscars 2023 celebration for South Asians. An embellished corset, sheer skirt and a feathered overcoat were complimented by sheer stilettos, minimal baubles by Bulgari beachy waves, bold eyes and nude glam. Her glam squad featured her go-to fashion stylist Ami Patel, hairstylist Bridget Brager and makeup artist Jo Baker.

Style notes on Priyanka Chopra

Delivering a masterclass of brilliance in monochrome, both styles had us hooked. Barbiecore with its all-embracing vibrant hues, particularly the doll’s signature hot pink in everyday life, found a muse in PeeCee.

The bubblegum Valentino pink aesthetic did bear room for improvements like a cinched waist with a Valentino belt and/or opting for fuchsia-toned lips. All the runway looks at the Valentino autumn/winter 2023 show in Paris featured a shirt collar and tie to elucidate the idea of a new generation carefully venturing towards classic wardrobe tropes rendering the modern new elegance actually new. We believe that Priyanka’s look could have reflected this sentiment with the inclusion of a tie to add a distinct layered look to the plunging neckline.

On the other hand, Priyanka obliterated the ivory Falguni and Shane Peacock creation to the hilt.
