They say the world is your oyster and you are the pearl. Being just that tonight in New York for the Met Gala 2023 was our #GirlCrush Alia Bhatt. She sauntered in with her sartorial and sophisticated charm debuting in Prabal Gurung. Her white ball gown was inspired by supermodel Claudia Schiffer’s 1992 Chanel bridal look. The genius of Karl Lagerfeld shone season after season in the most innovative and awe-inspiring couture. Alia’s gown featured 100,000 pearls embroidered to perfection. She upped the look with a bow of pearls in her hair. Anaita Shroff Adajania styled her while makeup artist Puneet B Saini and hair stylist Mike Desir helmed her glam.
This year, the Met Gala celebrated the late legend, Karl Lagerfeld and was titled ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’. The exhibition paid tribute to his genius through his most iconic designs. It was very fitting for a vintage moment and a clear way to pay homage to the designer would have been to wear one of his own or inspired creations – a vintage piece from one of the houses he designed for that include Chloé, Chanel, Fendi, Jean Patou or Pierre Balmain. Happy White Hour – Alia Bhatt
It was a corseted couture ball gown Prabal Gurung featuring 100,000 embroidered pearls. Baubles like a knuckle duster from the Alice Cicolini x Malabar Gold and Diamonds collaboration, and cutoff custom-made embellished gloves by Outhouse upped the look. Alia slipped into pearl-encrusted hand-embroidered shoes by ASAxSko.
Alia completed the look with subtle glam of flushed chees, soft eyes and nude lips and a wavy half updo clasped with a pearl bow.
On the professional front, Alia Bhatt will be seen in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, a romantic comedy film directed by Karan Johar sharing screen space with Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi and Ranveer Singh. The film is slated to release on 28 July 2023. She will also be seen in an American spy action thriller, Heart of Stone, directed by Tom Harper and sharing screen space with Gal Gadot, Jamie Dornan, and Sophie Okonedo. The film is slated to be released on August 11, 2023, by Netflix.
